A vehicle holds its assignment, so this is a search over the fleet rather than a lookup. That is deliberate: an index would be a second place the pairing is recorded, and two records of one fact is exactly the arrangement that lets a revocation update one and not the other. The fleet is small enough that the search costs nothing worth the risk.
