The widest span of bandwidths over which the mode count holds at a value, or null when it never does.

This is what makes the trace answer a question rather than merely display data. A mode count that holds across a wide band of bandwidths is structure; one that appears only in a narrow band at small bandwidth is noise that a little more smoothing erases.
