About the Author

Dr. Manuel Rossetti, P.E. Dr. Rossetti is a University Professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas. He served as the inaugural Director for the University of Arkansas Data Science program from 2019-2024. In addition, Dr. Rossetti served as the Director for the NSF I/UCRC Center for Excellence in Logistics and Distribution (CELDi) from 2013-2020. Dr. Rossetti has published over 125 journal and conference articles in the areas of simulation, logistics/inventory, and healthcare and has been the PI or Co-PI on funded research projects totaling over 6.4 million dollars. He was selected as a Lilly Teaching Fellow in 1997/98 and was voted Best IE Teacher by IE students in 2007, 2009, and 2017. He won the IE Department Outstanding Teacher Award in 2001-02, 2007-08, and 2010-11. He received the College of Engineering Imhoff Teaching Award in 2012 and was elected an IIE Fellow. In 2013, the UA Alumni Association awarded Dr. Rossetti the Charles and Nadine Baum Faculty Teaching Award, the highest award for teaching at the university. In 2015, Dr. Rossetti served as Program Chair for the Winter Simulation Conference. In 2024, Dr. Rossetti served as the General Chair for the Winter Simulation Conference. He is also the author of the book, Simulation Modeling and Arena, published by John Wiley & Sons.

Dr. Rossetti grew up in Canton, Ohio and is an ardent Cleveland sports fan. He received his Ph.D. and MSIE degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering from The Ohio State University and his BSIE degree from the University of Cincinnati. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Arkansas.
